Beautiful gardens celebrated during Melville program

Melville locals can view an online lecture in August discussing the history of two notable New York gardens.

History & Horticulture: Old Westbury Gardens & the High Line is a virtual presentation broadcasted by the Half Hollow Hills Community Library. During the program, guests will learn fascinating facts about each location and the plants found in the gardens. The Old Westbury Gardens is a mansion built by George A. Crawley with over 200 acres of wilderness and landscaped grounds. The High Line is a park constructed on a former freight rail line that opened in 2009.

The presenter for the activity will be Jessica Damiano. A gardening consultant with 15 years of experience, Damiano has written planting and troubleshooting advice for the Newsday Garden Detective. She gives several presentations each year, covering subjects like how to save money when gardening and the history of plants at the White House. Speakers such as this can promote their lectures with flyer printing services.

The program will occur on Thursday, August 5 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The presentation is meant for those who are 18 and older. People who wish to join the event can start registering on July 26 at 10:00 am. There is no cost to watch the lecture, though registration is mandatory. The show will be held over Zoom.
