Registration now open for CreatingSTEAM program
We Connect The Dots is a non-profit organization that supports education in the STEAM and STEM subjects. For the fifth year in a row, it is offering its CreatingSTEAM course in Old Westbury, a few miles from Hicksville.
The course is open to students from 13 to 18 years of age, and will be held at the New York Institute of Technology. Registration is open now, and since space is limited, interested students are urged to apply quickly.
Students need to master the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) subjects if they are to develop the skills to compete for well-paying jobs in challenging fields. The founder and CEO of We Connect, Laurie Carey, says there are jobs available for people with degrees in the STEAM and STEM fields, but government, educators, and parents have to encourage students to pursue these courses. She adds that the programs schools offer are not enough, so We Connect is there to fill the gap.
The upcoming course may interest those with aspirations of working in graphic design or the print sector, as participants will build a 3-D printer and use it to create various products. They will be working in groups, which will help them develop skills as team players they can take with them into their careers.
There are 64 spaces available in the program, which will take place from July 16-27.
