Late in 2017, the Hicksville Public School District held a grand opening ceremony for its Parent Center, although the center didn't officially open until after the New Year.
The center, which is in the district's administration building, is designed to provide human, technical, and material resources to support, inform, and assist families and parents in Hicksville.
Specifically, the district says the mission of the Parent Center is to help families and parents raise children who are safe, resilient, and confident, both in school as they venture into the world.
Several school officials received recognition at the ceremony. Claire Hochheiser, who is chairperson of the Parent Center District Committee; Dr. Carl Bonuso, Superintendent of Schools; and Phil Heckler, president of the Board of Education, all received a citation of appreciation.
The Parent Center's hours are from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Wednesdays.
According to Niche.com, the Hicksville schools are among the best in the state, ranking #87 out of the first 100.
New facilities such as this are of interest to almost everyone in a community—students, parents, teachers, staff, and residents as well. Officials might work with a newsletter printing company to create a letter that contains updates on the center, and its resources and opening hours.
