This fall, Glen Cove birders are invited to be among a group that will be paying a visit to the feathered friends who call the forest around Garvies Point Museum home.
The museum has organized a series of three bird walks, which are chances to view these Flyers on their fall migration. The participants are asked to bring along a pair of binoculars, but there will also be a few pairs available for anyone who needs them.
The birders will be treated to some close-up views of a variety of species, including those that are just passing through on their fall migration and others that stay throughout the winter months. The organizers remarked that as there are lots of berries and other food on site that birds like to eat, it tends to attract a wide variety of avian guests, and the museum’s outdoor deck can be a good spot to observe them. There will also be a guided hike, and along with the birds, other animals may be seen as well.
