Seed swap suggested for savvy Glen Cove gardeners

As many thrifty gardeners know, saving and sharing seeds can be an inexpensive way to add to their plant collections. This is the spirit behind an event planned for the Glen Cove library, and anyone from the local area with an interest in horticulture is welcome to attend.

Even though the library’s Seed Swap will be taking place in January, it won't be too early for those with graced with a green thumb. Those who choose some seeds to take home can get a jump start on sowing transplants, and they will also have lots of time to plan and prepare their plot before they install their new additions.

Everyone is welcome to come to the event, and it will give them a chance to learn more about the institution’s seed library. Those who have seeds to share are encouraged to bring them along, but are asked to leave any that are treated, GMO or hybrid at home.

The function will also provide an opportunity for area gardeners to meet and get to know one another, and they can exchange tips and other advice. Publications that promote this sort of activity can be prepared by an area flyer printing.

This chance for savvy green thumbs to add to their collection is scheduled to start at 10:00 am. The contact person for this event can be reached by calling 516-676-2130.
