For the fifth year in a row, proud pet parents in Glen Cove will be able to dress up their “fur children” in costume for the Howl'oween Pet Parade.
Previous parade participants have included cats, dogs, parrots, guinea pigs, and even a snake.
Event organizers are encouraging humans to get creative with their pets' costumers, since there will be a contest to pick the best outfit. The humans are also encouraged to come to the parade in costume, and for even more fun, match their outfit to that of their furry friend.
Prizes will be awarded for best owner/pet costume combination, most original costume, best costume, most exotic costume, biggest pet, and smallest pet.
The mayor of Glen Cove, Reggie Spinello, who has a dog named Cooper, said the Pet Parade is his pet's favorite of all events held in the city. Spinello went on to say he was sure the competition will be “ruff”.
The parade is scheduled for this Sunday, October 25, from noon until 2:00 pm. The parade will begin at Pulaski Street and march down School Street. There will be vendors in the Village Square after the parade, and three gift baskets will be raffled off.
