Glen Cove and the community recently announced that the application period for emergency relief from the effects of Hurricane Ida will now continue into January.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has made the decision to extend the application window for those impacted by hurricane Ida so that as many as possible will have time to submit their request. Both homeowners and renters are encouraged to apply if they need help, and the criteria for the program has been provided.
The disaster assistance is available to those who live in Glen Cove and the surrounding area that were damaged when the storm hit from September 1 to 3. It was noted that this initiative is not intended to be a replacement for renter’s or owner’s insurance, but it will help with basic needs and other emergency relief. It has been advised that the public utilize their own insurance policies first, and the FEMA program will offer support such as rental and lodging assistance, and monies to repair any damage caused by the storm.
