Many think of August as being the start of the harvest season, but those who come to a Glen Cove event will discover that it can be a great time of year to plant a fast-growing crop.
As part of a workshop that will be held in the Glen Cove Public Library, participants will learn about how they can choose vegetables that have a short growing season and prefer the cooler days of fall. They will also be taught planting techniques that can help to ensure a good harvest.
The event will include an introduction to which seeds are the best choices to plant for fall gardening, and the organizers noted that these have been chosen because they can be sown, grown and the produce picked before the garden gets put to bed for the winter. Those who come out will also be able to socialize and share gardening tips with one another.
Anyone who feels that this workshop will be of interest to them is welcome, but they are asked to register ahead of time. Flyer printing techniques can be used to create marketing materials that can make it easy to let the public know when a learning opportunity will be offered in their area.
The ‘Sow it Forward: Vegetables to Plant Now for Fall Harvest’ session has been planned for August 11 in the Glen Cove Public Library. Its website can be consulted for further details and an opportunity to register.
