An event that may help smash the stigma surrounding mental health will take to the track at Glen Cove High School this spring, and all ages and abilities may take part.
The Hope in Motion funding and awareness raiser will be a community walk and roll that will highlight the importance of mental health resources at the local level. While it is aimed at youth, advocates, friends, families, groups of co-workers, and others are also encouraged to lace up their sneakers.
Anyone who would like to get involved is asked to seek sponsors, and there will be self-care stations and yoga areas set up around the course. Live music will keep the excitement level high, and presentations have also been planned. Those who require a mobility device are welcome to roll their way along, and a resource fair will connect the public with community supports. Raffles and other giveaways will round out the festivities.
To help ensure the fundraiser is a success, the organizers are seeking both sponsors and volunteers. Not-for-profit groups often prepare sponsorship request letters and information packages to send out, and these may include materials crafted by a brochure printing company.
The event will take to the track on Saturday, May 17th, running from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. It has been organized by I Am My Sister.
