The city of Glen Cove and the Ancient Order of Hibernis are teaming up once again to put together the 28th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
The festivity will bring together many of the charitable organizations of the city in a procession of music, color, and revelry.
The parade will begin at Finley Middle School, snake through downtown Glen Cove, and finally end up at St. Patrick’s Church. The Grand Marshal this year is Paul Long, a local paramedic and designer of Glen Cove’s 9/11 Memorial. He is joined by Aides to the Grand Marshal Peter and Regina Begley.
The procession will be filled with marching bands, teams of Irish bagpipers, vintage cars, fire and police units, and costumed revellers. Most of the city departments will be represented during the parade, as well as many of the local ethics organizations, including Kiwanis and the Knights of Columbus. The parade will have a distinctly Irish theme, with Irish step dancers and wolfhounds joining in on the fun.
The parade will be held on March 20, beginning at 1:00 pm. Ample free parking is available along the parade route, but visitors are encouraged to arrive early to find a place.
