A drop off school holiday activity will put the outdoor skills of Glen Cove kids to the test, and it is being offered thanks to a local museum that focuses on the STEM subjects.
The Science Museum of Long Island , which is located in Manhasset, has planned a day of wilderness adventure at Leeds Pond Preserve. It will be a hands-on day, and it will give the campers a chance to develop both their self-confidence and outdoor skills.
The facilitators for the workshop will teach the participants how to navigate using a compass, and building a shelter using the natural materials they find in the forest is also on the agenda. A lesson in campfire construction and cookery will take place, and there will be an assortment of science themed toys as well as snacks available for purchase.
Parents who register their child for the session are reminded that it will be a drop off day. They are also asked to provide a packed lunch. A poster printing company may prove to be a helpful partner in ensuring the public knows about local events that are open to them.
The Science Museum Long Island will be giving kids this opportunity to develop their woodland survival skills on November 10th. Drop off time will be 10:00 am, and the attendees will be ready for pick up at 3:00 pm.
