A community shred is set to be on offer in Glen Cove this fall, and it will provide a way for locals to prevent identity theft while doing a good turn for Mother Nature.
Glen Cove Public Library will be partnering with A Shred Away for this one day only event, and it will offer an environmentally friendly way to dispose of unwanted paperwork and other documents. Both paper items and CDs will be welcome, and social distancing protocols will be observed.
Everyone who plans on taking advantage of the offer will be able to have up to three Bags or Boxes of materials run through the shredder, and as the machine can deal with both staples and paperclips, these do not need to be removed. To help keep everyone safe, the participants are asked to place the items in their trunk so that the staff on hand can remove them.
The planners of this activity have requested that carbon paper, plastic, Books, cardboard and magazines be left at home, as they will not be accepted at the community shred. A flyer printing company can prepare a variety of products to aid in spreading the word about this sort of event throughout the local area.
The Glen Cove Public Library has made arrangements to host this function on October 3. The shredder will be fired up and ready to go starting at 9:00 am.
