One of the roles of the Glen Cove Public library is to serve as a repository of community history and collective knowledge, and it has invited locals to get involved with one of its projects.
The library has set aside a day in August for its Family and Community Archive Day, which will be taking place at its branch situated at 4 Glen Cove Avenue. Everyone who is interested can bring up to 10 items to the morning session.
Each of the documents, photographs, publications, artifacts or other records brought will be scanned, but they must be no larger than 11 inches by 17 inches to be accommodated. If they wish, those who take part can opt to have their materials included in the venue’s archival room and its online archive, and they may even be able to donate them to the institution itself.
By preserving historical records and documents, a library can serve an important role in a community. A poster printing company will have many ways to inform the public about upcoming events without having to break the bank to do it.
