Peter Kopecky of Glen Cove High School has been selected by the New York Jets to receive the honor of Coach of the Week.
The Jets, in partnership with Gatorade, receive financial awards, while Coach Kopecky himself receives several products from Gatorade for his efforts.
The Glen Cove High School football team receives a monetary award for $2,000, and will also get an automatic bid to compete in the 7on7 tournament held by the New York Jets in 2018. In addition, Coach Kopecky will be able to watch the Jets compete against the Los Angeles Chargers at the MetLife Stadium on December 24, where he will be presented with an award ball and a certificate.
Coach Kopecky’s Gatorade kit contains a cooler, squeeze bottles, a Gatorade powder mix, and fuel bars. He is recognized for his work as a football player, as well as his 26 years of coaching, which has led to one championship for the school and two places as runner-up. He is also the physical education teacher for the school.
