Kids aged 12 and under in Glen Cove are preparing their costumes in anticipation of the 2016 Downtown Halloween Parade. The event combines a costumed procession with fun activities and, of course, candy.
The festivities kick off an hour before the parade with some light refreshments and a ‘Scary Story Hour’, where kids can hear a variety of spooky-themed stories for varying ages. The parade itself will be made up entirely of children in costume accompanied by their parents, who are encouraged to dress up as well. The procession will start at the Staples Center and wind through the city, ultimately ending in downtown Glen Cove.
After the parade is over, children can trick or treat at any of the downtown businesses marked with special poster printings from the Business Improvement District. Additionally, the Fun Bus will be on hand for some sliding and climbing activities. A costume and pie eating contest will also be held, offering prizes for the winners.
The 2016 Downtown Halloween Parade will be held on October 29 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at various locations around Glen Cove. The story hour will take place at Regency Assisted Living, located at 94 School St. from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, while the parade will begin just afterwards at the Staples Center, located on the corner of School St. and Highland Rd. The remaining festivities will be at the village square. Attendance is free to the public. Anyone interested in more info should visit the website.
