Fall is a favourite time for many bird watchers, and Glen Cove birders are invited to stop by Garvies Point Museum and Preserve to observe some of their fine feathered friends as they make their annual migration.
The preserve is home to a wide assortment of native plants and other food sources for birds that are on the move, and the public is welcome to watch and learn more about them. All ages can enjoy the experience, and it can help introduce kids to ornithology.
The site is a popular stop for birds on their way south, and its aralia bushes tend to attract many species. The visitors can get views from the outer exhibit hall deck, and those who spend some time there will be at eye level with sparrows, robins, and many other species. Guests are welcome to bring their own binoculars, and there will be a limited number available on site as well.
Admission for this fall birding experience is $5 for adults and $3 for kids who are between the ages of 5 to 12. Field guides that include color illustrations of the types of birds that may be observe during this sort of activity can be prepared by a printing services company, and these can be provided to each guest.
Garvies Point Museum and Preserve will be welcoming the area’s community of birders for its fall migration observation on September 5, 12, and 19. The venue for the activity is located at 50 Barry Drive in Glen Cove.
