According to the planners of an upcoming information session, a plant based diet can be helpful in maintaining a healthy blood pressure and overall heart health.
This will be the basis of a workshop that will be offered to residents of Glen Cove and the surrounding communities.
The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), which is a not-for-profit group, has developed ‘Food for Life’ to help bring nutritional education to the public. This particular class will be focused on the health of the heart and circulatory system, and it will include both instructional and cooking components.
Students in the class will discover the link that has been found between diet and the development of heart disease, as well as the benefits of a diet that is largely based on plant foods. Along with this, they will learn cooking techniques to prepare meals that are quick, nutritious, and tasty.
As the attendees find out how vegan dishes can be prepared from a few simple ingredients, they will be invited to sample them for themselves. At the conclusion of the event, each student will go home with both handouts and recipes so that they can continue to make healthy food choices. Items like this can be prepared by area Stationery printers.
This opportunity for residents of Glen Cove to find out how they can take control of their health will be taking place on December 2nd. The registrants will be contacted a week before the event with details about its exact location.
