A walk that will visit the springtime woods around Glen Cove has been scheduled for this spring, and it will introduce the participants to some of the flora that calls the area home.
The Humes Preserve in Mill Neck will be welcoming a group of nature lovers who cannot wait to get out and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. Michael Kliger will be the guide for the excursion, and while there is no charge to be included, everyone who is interested will need to sign up ahead of time.
The walkers in the outing will be on the lookout for plants that are just starting to emerge, and there may even be some species that are in blossom. While they go, the facilitator will provide tips and advice for forging in a manner that is sustainable over the long term, and the participants can ask questions and brush up on their plant identification skills.
Organizing a walk through the woods gives the public an opportunity to enjoy being out in nature along with others who appreciate being out in the wild. These may be led by a facilitator or self-guided – either way a brochure printing company can supply route maps, hiking tips, and other information.
This visit to Humes Preserve will be on offer on April 23 at 10:00 am. The meet-up point is at 349 Oyster Bay Road in Mill Neck.
