Rising obesity rates are believed to be due to a combination of factors, and those related to diet will be addressed as part of a Glen Cove area information session taking place next month.
The value of the fiber, nutrition, and other benefits of whole foods will be the focus of the workshop, and it will combine the information provided in the ‘Digestive Health and Favoring Fiber’ class that has been devised by Food for Life with recipes and other practical tips. It will explore the connection between the health of the gut and the overall condition of a person's body, and it will also offer a hands on component.
The class, which has spaces for eight students, will discover out how tasty healthy eating can be and it will involve both theory and practice. When it is time to go home, each of the participants will walk away armed with a greater understanding of nutrition and the value of plant based foods as well as recipes, handouts, and other items, many of which can be prepared by a printing services company. This way, they will be able to keep making good nutrition choices even long after the workshop is over.
This Port Washington seminar will be offered to the public on February 25. It is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm.
