The 173rd annual Long Island Fair is taking place over two weekends this month and next. It is presented by the Agricultural Society of Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties.
The fair will feature many of the traditional activities found at a county fair, including animal exhibits, horticultural displays, and games. There will be contests such as the cornucopia coloring contest, corn husking, and pumpkin carving, and there are set to be craft activities for children between the ages of three and five, maple and apiary classes, children's races, live entertainment, and food for purchase.
There will also be several competitions in topics such as needlework, hobbies, culinary arts, horses, flowers, and fruits and vegetables. Participants will compete for blue ribbons.
The fair is a tradition in Nassau County and attracts visitors from many nearby communities such as Glen Cove. Local postcard printing companies may be asked to provide products to help advertise this event.
The Long Island Fair will be held at Old Bethpage Village Restoration from September 25 to 27 and October 2 to 4, beginning at 10:00 AM each day. Admission is $12 for adults (or $7 if purchased before noon), or $8 for children between the ages of 5 and 12 and seniors. September 25 and October 2 will feature $5 admission for all seniors.
