The Rochester Women’s Network is organizing a tour of Fairport’s very own Lollypop Farm. The interactive event is intended to enrich the lives of women in the area while educating them about the history of one of the area’s most famous humane organizations.
The tour will take a look behind the scenes of the Lollypop Farm and the organization that runs it - the Humane Society of Greater Rochester. Visitors will get to interact with many of the furry, fuzzy, and scaly residents of the farm, and it even includes a visit by Penelope the Goat. Attendees will also learn about the history and evolution of the facilities and the services that are provided for both people and pets in the region.
The Humane Society of Greater Rochester was first founded in 1873 and moved to their current location when Hiram Marks donated 134 acres of farmland to the organization upon his passing in 1964. Since then, the Lollypop Farm has gone on to become the second largest operation in New York, employing 90 staff and 800 volunteers. It offers rescue and adoption services for traditional animals like dogs and cats, as well as farm animals such as horses, pigs, goats, and many others.
RWN Tours Lollypop Farm will take place on July 20 starting at 5:30 pm at 99 Victor Rd. The cost is $10 for the tour, and people wanting to attend can register on the RWN website. Anyone interested in more information about the Lollypop Farm can also write to it for informational Brochures.
