Calling in at Packetts Landing Terrace, this is part of the statewide celebration of the Erie Canal Bicentennial.
The barge will have free glassmaking demonstrations during the weekend event. The glass barge commemorates the 150th anniversary of the Flint Glass Company, now known as Corning Inc.

The Erie Canal is thought of as Fairport’s second main street, said Mayor Fritz May. A group of historic ships will sail with the glass barge, including Louis McClure (a replica of a canal barge) and C.L. Churchill (a tugboat).
During the visit, the museum will share historical stories about canal life and how goods were shipped using the canal. The glass barge will be moved by a tugboat.
