Catch-and-release fishing is an activity kids can enjoy along with the rest of their family, and a Murray Hill workshop in mid-October will give them some first-hand experience with the pastime.
Brooklyn Bridge Park will see some of the area's newest anglers cast their lines in a Citizen Fishing Clinic held at Pier 5. It will take place in the late afternoon, and all ages are welcome.
Using the equipment provided to them, learners will find out how to bait their hook, drop their line, and hopefully reel up their first fish. They will be taught about the importance of following catch-and-release practices that are safe for the fish, and no previous experience is needed.
To aid the organizers in ensuring there will be enough equipment on hand and to keep the registrants abreast of any schedule changes, those who are interested have been asked to RSVP. Stationery printers will be pleased to prepare certificates to provide to each learner in a workshop, and these can include any custom graphic design desired.
Murray Hill families looking to learn about the joys of dropping their line are encouraged to register for this in-person class. It will begin at 4:00 pm on Friday, October 13, and the meet-up spot for the learners will be located in Brooklyn Bridge Park.
