The Fourth of July is on the way for Murray Hill, bringing with it a huge fireworks display over the East River.
The celebration marks the 40th year of Macy’s sponsoring the event. The 25 minute long show will be synchronized to a variety of patriotic music which will feature performances by Jennifer Holiday, the United States Air Force Band and several others.
To make it possible for residents of Murray Hill to get a good view of the display, which will start once it gets dark, an assortment of viewing areas will be set up along FDR Drive. Entry to them can be gained at 34th Street, 42nd Street, and 23rd Street. Those with mobility challenges or who have other special needs are advised to use the 34th Street site. Signs that indicate to the public where the entrances are located can be produced by a printing company for events such as this.
Organizers advise people to arrive early at the viewing sites so that they can get a good spot. Bags, folding chairs, Backpacks and large containers are not permitted. The NYPD may need to reroute traffic for the evening.
