What's Happening in Brooklyn, NY…

Murray Hill plans fishy fun

Fishing is a hobby that many enjoy, and those who would like to learn the basics of the activity are encouraged to attend one of a series of sessions coming up in the Murray Hill area.

The series, which is open to people of all ages, will offer an introduction to catch-and-release fishing, and it will be led by Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Education Team. No experience is required for this walk-up activity.

The participants will learn how to tie a hook and lure to their line, and they will also receive tips that may help them land a big fish. Anyone who makes a catch can record the data before it gets released, and this information will be used to assess East River's overall health. A limited number of rods and reels will be available, and they will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.

A hands-on session may provide a way for those new to a hobby to pick up the basics. A flyer printing company can craft marketing materials as well as tip sheets and other handouts for a class or workshop.

Brooklyn Bridge Park will be the location for this introduction to fishing while leaving catches in the water. The first date scheduled is Saturday, June 28, and there are further installments set for July, August, September, and October.
