Prospect Park Alliance will be marking Presidents Week with special winter programming in the Murray Hill area, and everyone is encouraged to bundle up and join in the fun.
The Audubon Center will be hosting a day of entertainment with free activities, and one of these will be the Great Backyard Bird Count. It will introduce the public to birds and other wildlife and how they can engage in various environmental stewardship projects to help protect them.
Along with a chance to sit in on the bird count, the function will include a live animal encounter, as well as talks by naturalist’s from the Center. They will find out about how the various animals that call the area home make it through the winter months, and the festivities may be enjoyed by any age. Many of the scheduled activities will take place outdoors, so everyone should dress accordingly.
As part of the Backyard Bird Count, participants will be invited to submit the list of species they see to the national database. Stationery printers will be able to prepare checklists and promotional Pens to give out to those who register to take part in a citizen scientist-style project.
