Starting kindergarten can be a real milestone in a child's life, and Murray Hill families are encouraged to take advantage of an offer that may be open to them.
The Sheepshead Bay Library has scheduled its Ready, Set Kindergarten! Program for mid-October, and there is a series of six dates planned. It's for kids from ages 3 to 5, and their parent or caregiver will remain with them throughout the session.
During each installment, the attendees will be playing games, singing songs and developing their literacy and early learning practices. There will also be opportunities for socialization, and the kids can develop their motor skills and pick up basic STEM principles by making an art project, listening to stories and dancing to music. The adults will receive take home materials so they can keep the fun going, and no advance registration is necessary. The activity is part of the BPL’s First Five Years initiative.
Kids who are just starting school may be nervous about the prospect, and attending a preparation workshop can help give them skills and confidence that makes the process easier. Organizers may choose to order especially designed items such as “graduation certificates” and other materials for the children that take part from area Stationery printers .
