What's Happening in Brooklyn, NY…

Murray Hill event to invite kids into the kitchen

The winter holiday season is often a time when special foods are on the menu, and a Murray Hill area class will teach kids how to prepare a selection of festive treats.

Speakitaly NYC has scheduled a workshop that will bring kids into the kitchen. It will teach them some basic cookery techniques, and each child will gain hands-on experience.

The two-hour activity will see junior chefs prepare both sweet and savory dishes, which they will then be able to make at home to share with friends and family. It is for young people from the ages of 4 to 16, and the registration fee is $90 each. Parents or guardians are asked to drop off their child, and the learning will be delivered in both English and Italian. Reservations will be accepted until the class fills up or December 11, whichever comes first.

Cooking sessions give kids an enjoyable chance to see how STEM subjects can find a practical use in everyday life. Items like recipe cards, aprons, or chef’s hats printed with a cooking school’s logo design can be ordered from a printing services company.

This afternoon of festive cookery fun will run from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Saturday, December 14. Anyone interested can purchase tickets for the session through its web listing.
