Not everyone knows they can grow fresh vegetables in the heart of the city, but an upcoming event will show how easy it can be.
Murray Hill residents who would like to grow their own veggies may find that the virtual “Planning an Urban Vegetable Garden” provides inspiration, and it can be taken on its own or bundled with Crop Planting 101. Both are being offered by Brooklyn Grange, and the learning will be facilitated by CEO and co-founder Ben Flanner.
The class will be focused on city gardening, which often means growing in a confined space that may have depleted soil. The group will learn how they can amend their soil to make it more fertile, as well as how to choose which style of garden is right for their particular location. The benefits of raised beds, planter Boxes and other small-scale gardens and roof top horticulture will also be included.
A poster printing company will have ideas for promoting this sort of activity, ranging from conventional to ones that are outside the box, often at a price that suits the budget of non-profit groups.
Tickets to attend this virtual gardening workshop are on offer now, and they start at $25 each. The function will be held on March 4, and a registration link is available on Brooklyn Grange Farm’s website.
