Many people think of farms as being located out in the country, but a Murray Hill event will turn that notion on its head.
A tour is on the way that will introduce the community’s newest urban farm. Named Farm. One”, it is located at 625 Bergen Street, and it will provide an example of how it is possible to grow food even in the heart of the city.
Guests on the tour will find out how the venue grows a variety of food plants, and the activity, which has been organized by New York Adventure Club, will take one hour. Attendees will find out how hydroponics, which is the practice of growing plants that uses water and nutrients instead of soil, can be used to grow everything from lettuce to tomatoes, cucumbers, and other vegetables, as well as microgreens and edible flowers. The farm provides ingredients for a wide assortment of eateries in the city, and an herb tasting session is in the works as well.
The public may appreciate the opportunity to get a sneak peek into a business and how it operates, and an open house provides the chance to do this. Custom-designed Promotional Products to hand out can be ordered from area Print shops.
This guided tour into the future of food farming will begin at 5:00 pm on Friday, July 26. Tickets start at $35 and can be reserved through its event listing.
