Catch and release fishing can be a relaxing hobby that includes spending time out in nature, and Murray Hill residents who have always wanted to give it a try will soon be able to do so.
The education team at Brooklyn Bridge Park has organized a fishing clinic that will offer a chance to pick the basics from an experienced fisher. It is open to people of all ages, and there are dates set for both September and October.
The clinic will offer instruction in areas such as tying knots, how to bait a hook and also how to choose a spot to drop their line. With some luck, they may even be able to land their first fish and if they do, the data about their catch will be collected and used to help determine the overall health of the East River. The supplies will be provided first come, first served, and it's free to participate.
Hobbies can add a lot to a person; life, and a workshop or clinic can make learning the basics a lot more fun. A poster printing company can help build public interest in an event, and many of the options it can provide may be budget friendly.
This combination of fishing and serving as a “citizen scientist” will be offered on September 5th and October 3rd. Both dates will start at 4:00 pm and conclude at 6:00 pm at Pier 5 in Brooklyn Bridge Park.
