Brighton Beach residents will be happy to know a trip to Macy’s will not mean going all the way to Herald Square anymore.
Instead, they can go just a little way to Macy’s Backstage at Sheepshead Bay.
A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the site of the former Loehmann’s at 2027 Emmons Avenue on September 2 for the new Macy’s Backstage. As the first of its kind in Brooklyn, a lot of excitement preceded the store’s opening, with hundreds of residents on hand to get their first look at it.
The idea of Macy’s Backstage was conceived by one of its senior vice presidents, Vanessa Le Febvre. The new stores are a hybrid of a department store and outlet, providing customers with the glamorous ambiance of Macy’s, yet offering them discount prices. Included in the new Sheephead store are numerous fashions from the previous season.
The new Sheephead store is expected to increase business for local merchants, who will likely wish to contact their printing service to discuss making changes to their advertising strategy.
In addition to Brooklyn’s inaugural store, there are Macy’s Backstages on Long Island, as well as in Queens. Stores for the Bronx, New Hyde Park, and New Jersey are on the drawing board. Commonalities among Macy’s Backstage stores include juice bars and free Wi-Fi.
