Brighton Beach volunteers in evening park program

Prospect Park Alliance has a new program in the works that will offer volunteer opportunities at the end of the typical business day.

The Brighton Beach area venue has a new initiative that will see registrants participate in hands-on horticulture during the evening hours. The sessions will offer a respite from the heat of the day, and there are a variety of tasks to perform.

The volunteers will be fanning out to various locations in the park, and they will clean up litter, remove invasive plants, install much and take on other projects as well. Each session will run for no more than two hours, and once they are complete, those who lent a helping hand can mingle while they take in one of the venue’s summer sunsets. The session will take place rain or shine and they are open to those age 18 and up only. The materials needed will be supplied.

Parks and other urban green spaces give local residents an opportunity to enjoy some horticulture even if they don’t have a garden of their own. Companies that prepare custom Corporate Gifts can craft tee shirts and other clothing for an activity leader to wear so they will be easy to spot during an event.

The April session of this new initiative will be held on the 21st starting at 5:00 pm. It's free to take part, but registrations must be completed ahead of time.
