Science is discovering how the species that make up an ecosystem can be connected in unexpected ways, and a Brighton Beach area activity will give beneficial insects their time in the spotlight.
While many may be familiar with butterflies and the important role they play as pollinators and food for other species, there are lots of other insects out there that can be just as interesting. Facilitator Kira Louzon-Heisler will be sharing her knowledge, and everyone may walk away eager to learn even more.
The session will introduce how predators and prey are interconnected in a variety of ways, and the life cycles of beneficial insects such as ladybugs, lacewings, predatory wasps and firefly larvae will all take on starring roles in the show. Everyone will find ways they may be able to invite them into their garden and hopefully stay and raise a family will be provided, and everyone can ask questions. An ASL language interpreter may be available for those who require one, and it’s been asked that this request be made well in advance.

This free introduction to the world of beneficial insects is set for March 25th. It will begin at 6:00 pm at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden.
