Brighton Beach attends Memorial Day event

This Memorial Day, Brighton Beach families will be able to enjoy nature-based learning, and the celebration is scheduled for a local green space.

The organizers of Memorial Day in Prospect Park are hoping for a great turnout, and there will be activities set up at the Park's Boathouse, Carousel, and Lefferts Historic House. The fun will be for people of all ages, and the festivities are on offer thanks to the work of Prospect Park Alliance.

The plans for the afternoon include animal encounters facilitated by the Audubon Center. There will also be a family bird walk to view migrating species passing through, with field guides and binoculars supplied. The younger guests can hop aboard the carousel for a ride, and Lefferts Historic House Museum will have an exhibit displaying the role that the U.S. Colored Troops played in the Civil War, which will consist of a reading of Frederick Douglas’ speech as well as a listing of the names who volunteered to fight with the newly formed military unit.

Communities across the USA will have outside activities set for this spring. A banner printing company can offer a full line of single-use and reusable options for outdoor decor.

Prospect Park will hold its Memorial Day event on Monday, May 25. A full description and schedule for the afternoon can be found on the Prospect Park Alliance website.
