Hinsch’s has gained new signage while retaining character and atmosphere as it becomes part of Stewart’s, a New Jersey-based restaurant chain.
The legendary Fifth Avenue establishment, which began 66 years ago as an ice cream parlor and then transformed into a diner, now bears the name Stewart’s All-American. The change in name means an addition of Stewart’s items such as its soft-serve ice cream, hot dogs, and line of soft drinks.
However, Brighton Beach residents who frequent the diner will be relieved to know that the manager, Lee Moudatsos, says the menu will still contain old favorites.
According to Moudatsos, becoming a Stewart’s restaurant is expected to provide a promotional advantage, with its recognizable name enticing new patrons. Moreover, by offering the same Greek diner fare, numerous breakfast choices, egg cream, and other favorites, all with the same servers, cooks and general atmosphere, management hopes to hold onto all of its established clientele.
According to one patron quizzed about the change, as long as nothing else is altered about the establishment, customers will continue to make appearances. A promotional campaign featuring Flyers would provide an inexpensive way to reassure the public that their favorite features of Hinsch’s will remain the same.
The new Stewart’s All-American was opened by Bay Ridge’s Herman Hinsch; it was one of three the ice cream magnate opened in the 1940s and now it is Brooklyn’s first Stewart’s. Get a Free Quote for Flyers
