Brighton Beach kids Bug Out during hands-on workshop

An afternoon of fun with some new six-legged friends is set to take place near Brighton Beach in late winter, and all kids, along with their parents or caregivers, are welcome.

The “Bugging Out!" winter family outing will explore the many ways insects, spiders, and other creepy crawlies survive the winter months. The fee to register is $22 for each parent and child, and this must be completed ahead of the event.

The participants will be invited to engage in hands-on learning. They will be able to get to up close and personal with an insect so they can see how its body shape and other features have adapted to the local environment. They will then make a clay bug to take home, and also search for bug homes that may be found in the garden. The function is recommended for those from the ages of 4 to 12. Masks are mandatory.

At an activity that allows parents and children to learn together, printers will be able to offer small Promotional Products to give to each attendee as a memento of the experience.

Queens Botanical Garden will be hosting the session on March 12 at 43-50 Main Street in Flushing. It will run for 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Parents are advised that this is not a drop-off program and they will need to accompany their kids.
