Stephan Siller, who was a New York City firefighter, grabbed his gear and raced through the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel so he could aid the rescue efforts at the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001, and a Brighton Beach area event will honor his efforts.
The parking lot of Brooklyn’s Ikea will be the staging area for the community’s 2018 Tunnel to Towers Run, and it will pay homage to first responders, military members and all the others who put their lives on the line as part of their duties. Those who participate are welcome to walk or run, and the route they will follow will be 3.5 miles long.
Everyone is invited to be a part of this special event, and those who would like to record their time can purchase a timing chip online ahead of time. Race bibs are mandatory for the runners and walkers, and these will also allow them to access free water taxi transportation between the event and Pier 11. There is a reception planned for after the run, and this will include free drinks, food, and entertainment.
Those who reach set fundraising goals for the occasion will receive branded Promotional Products to thank them for their efforts. The planners of a large public event like this can utilize the services of local Print shops to provide them with any printed items they may need.
