Brighton Beach asked to lend wildlife a helping hand

Throughout the winter months, litter and other trash accumulates on the sands of Plumb Beach, and those who live in Brighton Beach have been asked to lend a hand in helping to clean it up.

Plans have been made for the debris, which can be harmful to migrating birds, terrapins, horseshoe crabs and other local wildlife, to be picked up and safely deposed of. Along with making the location clean for the animals, this will also help to make it ready for the people who use the beach during the summer months.

NYC Audubon will serve as the organizers for this event, and it has arranged bus transportation for a limited number of the volunteers who register to participate. Public transportation to the venue is also available for those who would prefer this option. The planners will provide both water and some other refreshments, and all equipment that will be needed to do the clean up will be supplied as well. Poster printing can be used to craft a variety of promotional items that let the public know that an event like this will be taking place in their area.

The NYC Audubon Plumb Beach Cleanup has been planned as part of the group’s efforts to conserve wildlife through education and a variety of hands on events. This particular activity has been scheduled for April 28th, and more information is available its Facebook listing.
