The Nutcracker is a holiday favorite for many families, and this year, the Brighton Beach area will be playing host to a special version of the cherished ballet.
The Moscow Ballet company will be staging ‘The Great Russian Nutcracker’, which involves the talents of more than 40 performers and an assortment of other artists and professionals. All of the dancers have been trained in a classical style, and will be dressed in colorful costumes. A growing 60-foot Christmas tree will be just one part of the set for the show, all of which have been painted by hand.
Included in the second act of the production, which the company has dedicated to world peace, will be a ‘dove of peace’ boasting a 20-foot wingspan, and also a cannon that fires roses instead of cannonballs. It all comes together to create a show that has received acclaim from critics in the over 100 cities in which it has been staged.
