What's Happening in Brooklyn, NY…

Botanical jewelry class offered near Brighton Beach

Nature gives many gifts, including materials that can be used to make jewelry, and this will be explored as part of a class hosted at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

This Brighton Beach area venue will be introducing the public to the art of using botanical materials, such as seeds and leaves, to craft pieces of jewelry. Margarita Poulson, the instructor, has extensive experience with the practice, and materials will be provided to attendees.

During this in-person workshop, the participants will learn about the history of using plant materials, and they will also discover which ones to use to make beads and other items. Harvesting and preparing the plants will be discussed, and everyone will go home with increased knowledge of some basic jewelry-making techniques.

The registration fee for this two-hour-long class starts at $43, and a materials fee of $20 will be applied as well. Both members and non-members are welcome to come along and participate. Community-based workshops and other learning activities can often be effectively promoted using items prepared by a flyer printing service.

The Botanical Jewelry Making session will offer a hands-on experience at the Administration Building GH 1 at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, starting at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, April 15th. The Garden’s enrolment system is currently accepting registrations, and these can be completed online.
