Summer in Henderson means a schedule full of activities and events, and this year is no different for children and teenagers in the area.

The Running the Rec event, held on various dates from June to August, allows local pre-teens and teens to spend time with their friends while enjoying a wide variety of activities. When events like this are organised, facilities arranging them may choose to use printing services to post notices around town.

Throughout the summer, kids who attend will have full, open access to the recreation center's basketball, volleyball, and racquetball courts, as well as to the game room and the fitness room. Other events held at the center include flashlight scavenger hunts, classes on growing gardens, pools, youth sports, and a wide range of other youth- and adult-oriented classes and programs.

The drop-off event is typically held in the evenings and allows parents a chance to run errands or to simply have a couple of hours alone while their kids have fun. Trained staff members are on site during the event to ensure children are safely supervised while enjoying time with their friends, and a dinner of pizza and drinks tops off each event.

The Running the Rec event will take place on the first Wednesday of every month from June through August.
