Henderson set to host seed swap

Henderson gardeners will soon be getting a little bit “seedy” when they participate in an event that can help them to play a role in preserving biodiversity.

Seed saving is a practice that has undergone a resurgence in recent years, giving gardeners an opportunity to both preserve rare cultivars and even create some of their own. A seed swap has been scheduled for the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve, and anyone who would like to check it out in person is invited.

The activity will see the public drop by to pick up some seeds and leave any they have to share. They will be able to meet local gardening experts who can offer tips and advice, and they will also be invited to rub shoulders with their fellow home horticulturalists. No advance registration is required, and it will be open to the public for two hours.

A seed swap or other hands-on event can provide a fun introduction to the importance of sustainable horticulture and preserving biodiversity. Seed Envelopes, labels, permanent markers, and other promotional Pens printed with a group’s Logo Design can all be crafted for an activity by a professional printer.

This opportunity to be part of the National Seed Swap is scheduled for Saturday, January 27. Those who are interested can drop by starting at 9:00 am.
