Henderson gets ready for heritage parade

The city of Henderson is putting together its 63rd Annual Heritage Parade. The event will celebrate the long and interesting history of the city, with the procession and much more.

The parade itself will be decorated with the theme of ‘My Henderson’. This means that entries should try to get across the best parts of living, playing, working, or learning here. All floats will be judged afterwards based on incorporation of theme, creativity, and overall appeal, and the three top ones will receive cash prizes of $1,000, $750, and $500. The parade will run through the Water Street District of Henderson.

Before the procession, the mayor and city council will host a breakfast on the City Council Lawn. After the prizes have been awarded, families are invited to stick around for some live entertainment and a festival. Several local talents will be performing on two different stages, and a plethora of family friendly games and activities will be available.

The Henderson Heritage Parade will take place on April 23 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The breakfast will be at the City Council Lawn from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, and the parade will run on Water St. from Ocean to Victory Ave. from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Admission is free.
