The city of Henderson is putting together a celebration of Pacific Island culture. The Ho’olaule’a Festival brings together live entertainment, crafts, and an information fair for a weekend full of fun.
The theme of this year’s fest is E Ho’omau Loa Aku, which means ‘Be the Change’. Two stages will be filled with dancing, singing, and other performances celebrating the history of several different Pacific Islands, including Hawaii, Tonga, and American Samoa.
Aside from the entertainment, foods from the islands will also be offered, including a Hawaiian food plate, island-style barbecue, and shaved ice, as well as beer and wine for sale. A Keiki Zone will also offer entertainment for children, including a petting zoo, bounce houses, water spouts, and Hawaiian games. Arts and crafts will also be offered to anyone interested in taking a piece of the islands home.
Boutique vendors will additionally sell a number of items at the festival, and many fine arts will also be on display. The full list of vendors is available on the Flyers. A health and information fair will be held for visitors as well.
The Ho’olaule’a Pacific Islands Festival will take place on September 10 and 11 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on Saturday, and 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on Sunday. Admission is free to the public. Anyone interested in more info should contact the city directly.
