Residents of the Henderson area are gearing up for Heart and Soul: A Celebration of Gospel and Black History. The event offers a mix of music, art, dancing, and shopping.
The concert portion will feature performances by several groups from the area including the Victory Missionary Baptist Church, the Mountaintop Faith Ministries Choir, Christian Embassy Worship Center, Ken Young and Friends, and Mark McCutchen. A variety of groups and churches were chosen to stress that the City of Henderson does not endorse any particular religion or creed.
There will also be cultural dance performances at the event, as well as an African-American art exhibit. In other parts of the facility, there will be food concessions available for purchase, business exhibit booths, and vendor booths. The City of Henderson’s Cultural Arts and Tourism Department are sponsoring the festivities as a celebration of Black History Month.
Heart and Soul will be held on February 27 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at Henderson Events Plaza located at 200 Water St. Registration for vendors and sponsors is still open, and those interested can contact the City of Henderson for appropriate marketing materials. They may also want to contact a local printing company for custom Pens and suchlike.
Admission is free to the event, and people looking to attend can find more info on the website.
