Craft boat regatta on the cards in Henderson

Henderson families are invited to set sail for fun during an activity that will put their cardboard boat building skills to the test.

The Cardboard Boat Regatta challenges those who take part to create a seaworthy craft using only cardboard and duct Tape as building materials. Everyone is welcome to participate, and they can do so as an individual or part of a family, corporate group, organization, or other team. The boats can be as creative as the contestants wish, and an assortment of categories will be available for entry during the competition.

Awards will be presented to the winners in the different groupings, and there will even be a special ‘Titanic’ Prize for the craft that sinks in the best way possible. The pool will be open for swimming before the regatta, and the registration fee for the afternoon has been set at $5 each. A local Stationery printing company can supply personalized award certificates for each entry in a friendly competition such as this.

The event seeks to find out whose boat will sail like a swan and whose will sink like a stone, and will take to the waters of the Henderson Multigenerational Activity Pool, and will take place next Saturday, July 29. More information, and a full listing of contest rules and other details about the day, can be found on the city’s website.
