The pilot program of The Dancer’s Dream Fund Inc., a nonprofit based in Paramus not far from Fair Lawn, was recently launched by awarding grants of $500 each to three local dance students.
The three girls given the awards were Jessica Pagano from Maryann’s School of Dance in Paramus, Reyshelle Rodriguez from Viibe in Ridgefield, and Alexandra Williams from Dance Dimensions in New Milford. The awards were given last month in the studios at which the girls take their lessons.
Monica Byrne, president of The Dancer’s Dream Fund, said the dancers were selected based through an application and nomination process. Those given the awards were ones who demonstrated a commitment to work hard in school, give back to the community, and be caring and kind individuals.
The Dancer’s Dream Fund was created by four mothers who wanted to make a contribution to the community. They worked with local studio owners to initiate the program and hope to expand it in order to help many more children defray the costs of their dancing lessons.
Byrne added that money is raised from direct donations and fundraising events. Organizers often use flyer printing to inform those in the community about current and planned programs.
The Dancer’s Dream Fund was officially started in April of this year and is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization.
