Special race to be held in Fair Lawn

A Purim 5K Fun Run and 1-Mile Walk will be hosted by the Sisterhood of the Fair Lawn Jewish Center/Congregation B’nai Israel next month.

This is a popular event for all types of walkers and runners in the community. For the runners, the course is sanctioned by the USATF and is chip timed. The first 125 who register for the race will receive a T-shirt. There promises to be fun for the family, and snacks and prizes award to the top female and male runners and in several age groups. A DJ will be present too.

The goal of the run/walk is to raise funds for a program for kids with mild to moderate learning, social, or emotional challenges at the Ramah camp that will be held in the Berkshires over the summer. This is a four-week overnight camp for those children entering fourth through seventh grades. Poster printing can be used throughout the community to encourage participation in such fundraisers.

The cost to register before February 26 is $25, and $30 on the day of the race. Road Runner Sports in Paramus will donate an additional $1.50 for those who pick up their race packets on February 26 at their store.

The run/walk will take place beginning at 10:00 am on Sunday, March 1 at the Fair Lawn Jewish Center.
