Chef Central of Paramus, a culinary superstore just a short distance from Fair Lawn, recently announced that it will be holding its first Ultimate Chef New Jersey competition. The knockout competition will be held on four Saturdays in January.
On January 9 and 16, chefs from a well-known restaurant in each of four counties will square off against each other. The winners from each of these rounds will then compete against each other on Saturday, January 23 during the semi-finals. On the last Saturday in January, the winner of the semi-finals will compete against The Oceanaire Seafood Room chef Carlos Valdez. The winner of that round will receive the title of Ultimate Chef New Jersey Champion for 2016.
The events begin at 11:00 am and there is no charge to attend. A mystery ingredient will be given to each chef and the ingredient needs to play an important role in each of the four courses that they create for the judges. Dishes will be judged based on presentation, taste, degree of difficulty, innovation, and cooking skills.
Some of participating chefs will include Chef Todd Villani, Chef Justin Manzi, and Chef Don Macmath, who represent popular eateries in areas like Montclair and Watchung. These area restaurants may all benefit from the marketing services a high-profile competition like this can provide.
